So I found out after color grading that the footage is rec 709 but my sequence is hlg. Is there another way besides having to color grade all over again?
@@BriaRoseSax yeah absolutely. Create a new sequence, go to your HLG timeline and select all + COPY. Paste into new Rec709 sequences

Which part didn't work? Did you try uninstalling everything, restarting and reinstalling? Are you running windows? Which one? There are a lot of factors

Ok now that sucks I was in the middle of leaving a comment and forgot I had to pause the vid and the end roll ad broke thru my ad blocker and I have to start over!
I have add blocker on my computer, However I have not been able to find a way to install it on my smart tv. I have learned that if I restart a video enough ( 3-6 times) it will start playing! I have also learned that if the ad say skip in 5 sec it is better just to skip ppp it!
Wish I had seen this before I bought it... Went to france and got the "pleasure" of seeing it fall tons of times without any sort of rough handling whatsoever....

At 2:29 minutes into your video, you mentioned that in the settings of Lumetri Color, to go down to 'Sequence' and make sure that it is set to Rec 709, but it is all greyed out for me, and I can't change it. How do I make that active to make the change?
Just to make sure - early in the video I explained why you MIGHT need Rec709 - if you don't, then you shouldn't need to change it, however if you do need it to be Rec709 there might be a tickbox that allows you to change it.

I had to close the whole project to get it back. Luckily it was saved before trying this method.
@@AmberBlase glad the project was safe. I have my auto save set to 7 minutes. It can be annoying at times but saves my ass all the time when prempro decides to mess up. I bought a keyboard as well that have customizable buttons on the side (it's a gaming keyboard but I don't game) and I set the buttons to save, open specific windows in prempro, export stills, create nests, etc. This has helped me a lot over the years and the saving issue has been engrained .... Sorry for the soapbox,

I do it the same way! I like not being alone lolol. If I want 2.35 bars, I simply uncheck the uniform scale and lower the scale height to 75% (I use a Sirui (SOO-ray) 1.25x adapter on my sphericals) So 25% wider? K. 75% of the height then. Boom :) If I want the full 2160 height (no 2.35 bars) then I do it your way and also...boom! :P
That's awesome. I keep hoping to find a better, more fine tunable way, however I just can't. It's nice to know other people are doing it the same way.

By the looks of the comments i must be the only one for whom this didn't work. I've not had trouble playing 10 bit 4.2.2 but could never get thumbnails. I followed your direction to the letter but to no avail. Very frustrating
I understand that sometimes it doesn't work (after reading the comments for a while). I'm sorry it didn't show up right. Have you tried uninstalling it all and retrying? I'm not sure it will work, but I hope

bro why adobe make their products so difficult to use (literally) ... cap cut i applaud. they make it SO simple to navigate and utilize.
I can understand about the stress with Adobe however, it all comes down to what works best for you. There is not one thing is best in life, right? If you're finding capcut working, that's awesome!! I've been on PremPro since I started editing in 2001 and when Avid combined with them, it made the program so much better. I tend to work on really intensive client work that requires a lot of different aspects so PremPro has been the best option for me. Keep killing it!!!

I just tried this & it worked, very easy. It will save me tons of time & effort on future projects. Nice, simple, calm & to the point presentation, no pointless bombast & clearly shows you each step instead of, as some tutorials do, just saying something like ''Do blah, then blah blah then jargon jargon blah' assuming you know what hell they're talking about but not showing it. I was actually getting ready to teach my class before the semester started and I was messaging around in the settings (new laptop for teaching) and saw the section. So I tried it and then I googled it on the Adobe forums and manuals

I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I think I'm following your instructions correctly and after exporting 3 tests at 1.96 , 2.2 and 2.4 looking at the files in Quicktime they all look exactly the same.

Whenever I have display color management ticked on,when exported, the color matches in my QuickTime Player. BUT it loses saturation. When I have display color manger ticked off, my premiere preview shows a vibrant picture. When I export that to preview on QuickTime it’s as if I had the display color management ticked on.
@@lilisland27 QT player is a skewed look to other players. Kind of how like back in the day when we would burn DVDs for clients You always want to check it on a player before sending it out because while it might work on one machine, you could have errors on something else. This is how it is with media players. Unfortunately most people do play media playback on inferior players like QuickTime or Windows Media player. These programs are really not good. Check the video in VLC player, but also be sure to check it on another source like a television from something like a Roku or another breakout media box. At the end of the day, the most important thing is to know where the video is going to live. If it's going to live on UA-cam, upload it to UA-cam and see how it looks from different sources - PC, tv, phone, etc. If it's going to live as a digital file and not be online, then check where people would play it, i.e, computer, TV. But you always want to make the final product for where it's going to live

For Mac users (with clients who are Mac users) it's also worth viewing with the 1.96 (Quicktime) Gamma because this is exactly what it will look like in Quicktime when you export. I toggle between 2.2 Web and 1.96 Quicktime now before finalising my grades so I know what it'll look like in those different scenarios. VLC player shows it in 2.4 broadcast Gamma so that's useful for getting an idea of what the grade will look like at festivals or screenings where they'll be screening it properly.
